Hi Team..here is a link to the social studies state standards.  There is a lot of other links there but I thought you may be interested in some of the other supporting materials.  http://www.michigan.gov/mde/0,1607,7-140-28753_38684_28761---,00.html

The Education and Legal system's mission is to study Mozambique’s current legal and educational  policies and standards to assess their alignment to the country’s idea of democracy.  We will review specific aspects of both topics that either support or impede Mozambique’s goals of democratization.  We will accomplish this through the review of current research, documentaries and interviews.  Our interviews will include Mozambican judges, lawyers, teachers, educational leaders and students.  We will also interview citizens in both rural and urban areas to assess their ideas about Mozambique’s legal and educational systems.  As a comparative study, we will also talk to middle school students in the US and Mozambique and assess their ideas of democracy.  We would like to interview the following “types” of individuals:

  1.  U.S. and Mozambican students
  2.  Educational Leaders
  3.  Teachers/Principals/Students
  4.  Judges/Lawyers

To do list:

1.  Review current US standards that support our student understanding of both our governmental structure and specific ideas about democracy.

Team:  Please edit and add information as needed...Sebrina
